Alan was born and raised in Spain, and has lived in the U.S., Italy, and China. He graduated in 2013 from Brown University with a B.A. in International Relations. Alan’s deep curiosity to better understand cultures and values that differ from his own attracted him to China for the first time in June 2013, working in Shanghai for a year as an Education Consultant. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Education Policy at Vanderbilt University. He focuses on better understanding differences between the U.S. and Chinese education systems, and seeks to provide more meaningful, global-minded and empowering learning experiences for students in China. Alan resonates closely with JUMP!’s vision of creating a more culturally-sensitive and global citizenship. In his free time, Alan enjoys exploring Hutongs, playing Frisbee, and dancing to Salsa music.
This summer, Alan is a Program Design Intern/Program Facilitator at JUMP!. His main responsibilities involve creating new activities for JUMP!’s outdoor experiential learning programs, drawing connections between JUMP! activities and curricular objectives at JUMP!’s partner schools, and facilitating awesome learning experiences for students during JUMP! programs.
