Claire graduated from Cambridge with a first-class degree MA degree, and since then has devoted her life to working in the fields of international development and global issues education. She was a founder member and the country director of a non-profit working in remote regions of Nepal (PHASE Nepal ) the country she now calls home. She also worked for several years as an adviser to an organization in rural Cambodia. In her native UK She was the UK coordinator of youth organization Development in Action, worked with Think Global supporting disadvantaged youth to take action on global issues in their own communities, trained teachers and youth workers in development education pedagogy, and became a coordinator of a DFID strategy to embed a global dimension to classroom education.
Claire now works freelance for JUMP! and a number of other international educational organizations, offering training and consultancy in global citizenship education, international development and overseas service. She is also co-authoring a book on these themes called ‘Learning Service’. Passionate about global equality and social justice, these values drives everything that she does. Claire is an incurable optimist and has boundless energy – mainly fueled by caffeine from her British tea-drinking habit.
