Dan Kinzer came to JUMP! after several years of working as an international school educator in the Caribbean and East Asia, where he taught Theory of Knowledge, IB Psychology, Humanities and History; was the faculty advisor for the Global Issues Network student groups; and coached several varsity basketball and volleyball teams. Dan has also spent time in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Suriname, Peru, and the Philippines, working to empower youth in developing communities. Before joining the international school scene, Dan taught in a large public high school in northwest Florida and served as a wilderness counselor and teacher for ‘at-risk’ youth with Eckerd Youth Alternatives. Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where he also pursued his passions for adventure and exploration by white water rafting, rock climbing, surfing, and trekking. Dan is a PADI Advanced Open Water scuba diver, has surfed waves breaking on the shores of six continents, and also loves mountaineering. He enjoys laughing at himself while he wanders his way through broken Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, and hopes to learn many more languages as he makes his way around the world. Dan finds so much to learn, and so much room to grow, in adventures of all kinds; and his greatest joy is sharing in these adventures with his wife, daughter, and son, friends, and other curious minds.
