Born and raised in the suburbs of New York City, Ali Meighan’s passion for travel was sparked through a high school trip to China. This initial experience prompted her to return to China to study abroad during college, where she was able to blend her love of art, history, and Asian culture. After receiving her bachelor’s in Art History from Syracuse University, Ali returned to China once more, where she inadvertently fell into the world of education. She spent four years teaching English and Geography at an international school in Shanghai, an experience which ignited her love of working with international youth. Upon returning to the U.S., she worked at a conference for youth from across the globe, where she discovered the power and potential of education outside of the traditional classroom setting. Eager to explore her passions of intercultural learning, global citizenship, and experiential education, Ali spent the past year in Vermont pursuing her Master’s in International Education at SIT Graduate Institute. She is a firm believer in effecting change through education and is very excited to help students realize their potential and empower the next generation through experiential learning. Ali is thrilled to be returning to Asia and joining the JUMP! community, a place she believes will be the perfect setting for her to continue to learn and grow as an international educator. In her spare time, Ali can be found practicing yoga, baking, crafting, getting lost in a good book, and drinking lots and lots of coffee.
