J!Schools programs are high-energy, transformative learning experiences. Interactive activities focused on personal growth, teamwork, and leadership inspire students to engage in their communities as global citizens. Every J!Schools program is rooted in experiential education and tailored to meet the needs of the school and participants.

 
J!Schools off the shelf programs typically range from 1 to 3 days in length and include Programs for Educators, Programs for Students and Workshops and Keynotes as outlined below:

 

Programs for Educators

Experiential Education Essentials

Program Length: 1-2 days

Group Size: min. 15

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:15

The JUMP! Experiential Education Workshop empowers educators to facilitate experiential education programs and activities. The program exposes participants to JUMP!’s activities, models and tools based on themes of personal discovery, community building and global issues. Educators will be challenged to develop an understanding of the different components that are involved in facilitation and will have the opportunity to develop and refine their own personal facilitation style.  This workshop will enhance educators’ skills to facilitate discussions and enrich their classroom with experiential education activities.

 

Community Day

Program Length: 1 day

Group Size: min. 50

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:50

The objective of the JUMP! Educator Community Day Program is to build a tightly knit community of educators based on pluralism, trust, respect, integrity and compassion. The program emphasizes community as a space that values cultural differences and is free of judgment with fun, interactive activities that challenge educators’ notions of communication and trust.

The JUMP! Educator Community Day also provides an introduction to the pedagogy of experiential education, including experiential education tools and resources which can be incorporated into the classroom. It will provide educators with the opportunity to build both community and the skills and tools to effectively and efficiently set plans in place for the school year as a community that works together.

 

Programs for Students

INSPIRE Leadership

Program Length: 1-2 days

Group Size: 10-20

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:10

The objective of the JUMP! INSPIRE program is to focus on personal discovery and personal development. This program will provide a space for students to explore inspiration and how their personal inspirations can lead to personal and community action. Students will consider how their inspiration and passion factor into their curiosity, motivation, and success. Students leave the program with an awareness of how this contributes to their personal leadership style and leadership practices as well as how to put their inspiration and passion into action in both their personal lives and within their community.

 

EMPOWER Leadership

Program Length: 1-2 days

Group Size: 10-20

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:10

The objective of the JUMP! EMPOWER program is to empower students with the appropriate knowledge, skills and mindset needed to act on their inspirations and achieve their full potential. Through team challenges, students will revisit their personal leadership style and practices and consider how the role(s) they play contribute to group dynamics and collaboration. Following a student-driven needs assessment, JUMP! Facilitators will support students in building the appropriate toolkit and skill sets necessary to achieve their goals.

 

ENGAGE Leadership

Program Length: 1-2 days

Group Size: 10-20

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:10

The objective of the JUMP! ENGAGE program is to engage students in meaningful action. Students will be trained in the pedagogy of experiential education and the art of facilitation. They will learn to facilitate JUMP! activities and models which can be used in classrooms, clubs, sports teams in order to facilitate learning around leadership, personal development and group collaboration. The purpose of this program may take different forms depending on school, educator, and student interests.

EXAMPLE: Students may be trained to design and facilitate the INSPIRE program for younger year levels, to run programs with student leader groups and ultimately designing and running school or city-wide TEDx, GIN, Round Square and other Global conferences.

 

Student Leadership

Program Length: 1-2 days

Group Size: 10-40

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:10

This program will support Student Leaders in developing the skills they need to better lead and manage school programs, initiatives, and activities.  This program will provide students the opportunity to reflect on the vision and mission of the school, set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Action-Oriented, Realistic, Time-Sensitive), and establish a clear action plan, roles and responsibilities for creating collaborative, effective student leadership. Student leaders will leave the program with a clear understanding of how to achieve their goals and better their school community. This program is ideal for Student Councils, Service Leadership, School Ambassadors, Prefects and more.

 

Junior Facilitator Training

Program Length: 1-2 days

Group Size: 10-30

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:10

The Junior Facilitator training will empower students with the appropriate skills and tools to act as inspiring and powerful facilitators of growth and development in their school community.  This program centers on the experiential learning process and identifying the needs of individuals and groups.  Students will be challenged to develop an understanding of the different components  involved in facilitation, including the designing and planning of student-facilitated JUMP! programs. Students who graduate from a JUMP! facilitator training are called on to support (at their own will) whenever there are JUMP! programs at their respective school.  JUMP! Jr. Facilitators are a valuable resource at schools looking to propel the idea of student driven learning and increase the level of in depth facilitation in school programs and extracurricular activities.

 

Community Day

Program Length: 1 day

Group Size: 50-500

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:50

The goal of the JUMP! Community Day Program is to build a tightly knit community of learners based on pluralism, trust, respect, integrity and compassion. The program emphasizes community as a space that values cultural differences and is free of judgment with fun, interactive activities that challenge students’ notions of communication and trust.

A JUMP! Community Day is suitable for an entire school or a specific grade-level, this high-energy program provides an opportunity to address questions like: What is a community?  How can I be a leader in our community?  What can I do to make our community stronger?

 

Workshops and Keynotes

Experiential Education Workshop (for Educators)

Program Length:2 hours- 1 day

Number of Participants:min. 15

Facilitator to Participant Ratio:1:15

The JUMP! Experiential Educator workshop seeks to give educators and administrators the tools to incorporate experiential education into their classrooms and school-wide programs. Emphasis is placed upon effective application of experiential education tenets to inspire the pursuit of lifelong learning within students. The program uses a hands-on approach to introduce participants to the theory and philosophy of experiential education.  What is experiential education? How can it enhance learning in and out of the classroom? How can we use experiential education successfully?  Participants will learn how to plan and create experiential education lessons, how to use activities to bring energy and active learning into the classroom, and how to integrate experiential education into core curricula.

 

Global Issues Workshop (for Students or Educators)

Program Length:2 hours – ½ day

Number of Participants: min. 15

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:15

The JUMP! Global Issues Educator Workshop introduces the theory and practice of global issues education to administrators and faculty. The workshop focuses on discovering answers to the following questions:

  • What is global issues education?
  • How can we integrate global issues into our curricular and co-curricular programs?
  • How can we gain support from parents and school board administrators for global issues education initiatives?

Participants are provided skills and resources to map and create age-appropriate global issues curricula for individual classes, grade levels, and whole schools. The skills acquired during the program will aid administrators and educators in enhancing their instruction of global issues.

 

Service-Learning Workshop (for Educators)

Program Length: 2 hours – 1 day

Number of Participants: min. 15

Facilitator to Participant Ratio: 1:15

This workshop will provide educators with tools and strategies to transform “service learning” programs into powerful educational experiences focused on sustainable development. Using case-studies from the JUMP! Foundation’s work with schools and partners all over the world, this workshop will explore innovative approaches for sustainable development education. It will explore how to authentically connect these experiences with a school’s core curriculum, allowing the powerful learning of serving others to engage with the core education streams back on campus. Educators will leave the workshop with frameworks, tools, and activities they can use to revolutionize their own service learning programs into sustainable development experiences.
