Matthew’s professional career has been spent creating and expanding companies in retail distribution and real estate industries. Presently, he is Managing Director for China Horizon Investments Group and is leading a team, in partnership with China Post, to open 10,000 stores in rural China. He was previously a partner at Asia Property Services Group, Ltd., where he most recently represented Air China Real Estate to engineer a multi-million dollar landmark deal with the U.R. National Basketball Association (NBA) for a partnership with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Basketball Arena. Prior to that, Matthew spent 15 years building multi-unit retail and distribution businesses, including Hong Kong Wine Club Ltd., a Beijing-based wine import and distribution business. As president of Hong Kong Wine Club Ltd., he served clients in 14 provinces throughout China, including nearly all Intercontinental and Starwood family hotels, as well as Hilton, Marriott, and other 5-Star properties. In the U.S., Matthew was founder and BEO of Carberry’s Bakery and Myllan-Carberry’s, two bakery product companies located in Massachusetts. In early 2002, he sold the companies to a European venture fund before moving to China with his wife and two children. Matthew is also the Founder and CEO of Cambridge Development Group, a 15 year old, on-going real estate development company that owns and manages commercial sand multi-unit residential properties in the USA. A former All-American Athlete, Matthew serves on the boards of Sports Beijing, and is active in the community as a board member at Western Academy of Beijing and JUMP! International.
Andrew Berry is currently enrolled at Berkeley pursuing an MBA in social entrepreneurship. Andrew used to direct JUMP’s operations, including finances, human resources, IT, facilities, and process management; he also expanded relationships with schools around the world. Andrew worked in Financial Planning & Analysis at Astrum Solar, Inc., a solar energy start-up that was recently ranked the #2 fastest growing private company in the United States. Previous to that, Andrew served as the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis at GridPoint, Inc., another private company in the clean-tech space. Andrew’s ties to Asia began in his youth. He grew up in Atlanta and moved to Beijing for five years in elementary and middle school. He went to high school in Atlanta and graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Mathematics in 2004. Working with JUMP! marked Andrew’s exciting return to China. Andrew has a passion for socially-positive enterprises and loves JUMP’s vision for youth around the world. He believes that any person can accomplish great things and that thinkers, dreamers, and doers can change the world. He enjoys challenging himself, engaging his community, exploring new places, sports of all kinds, and delicious food.
Peter is a designated Chartered Accountant with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCooper’s audit and assurance group and had worked in the Vancouver and Calgary office, serving clients in various industries, such as Mining, Forestry, and Oil & Gas. Peter is currently a member of PricewaterhouseCooper’s advisory group in the Beijing office. Having completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at McGill University, Peter obtained his Masters of Professional Accounting degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to university, Peter spent eight years living and studying in China.
Ari serves as the Director of Asia Pacific for Merrill Corporation, a financial and legal services firm. His main objective has been to open the DataSite division’s Hong Kong office, while also serving a wide client base in Southeast Asia, Greater China, Korea, and Japan. Prior to joining Merrill, Ari worked at the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing and at a U.S.-based tech start-up, where he was responsible for manufacturing and business development. Holding degrees in Political Science, and Operations and Technology Management from Boston College, Ari has over 20 years of experience living and working in China.
Based in Singapore, Claire Veuthey heads up sales and business development in Asia-Pacific for Sustainalytics, a firm advising institutional investors on integrating sustainability into their investment decisions. She has previously lived and worked/studied in Washington, DC, Geneva, London, Toronto and Amsterdam, at organizations very large and very small. Claire is passionate about the positive effect that corporations can have on society and the environment. She is excited about working with JUMP to scale its global impact.
