Experience a visual arts expedition along the Chao Phraya river, where you’ll have the chance to observe, document, and connect with Thailand’s rich cultural and historical assets. As you travel from the historical city of Ayutthaya to Bangkok’s Chinatown, you’ll be tasked with creating a portfolio that focuses on a particular aspect of life along the river. Along the way, you’ll learn photography and art skills from local experts and educators and have the opportunity to engage with communities along the route. At the end of the trip, you’ll have the chance to showcase your work in a student-curated gallery exhibition and raise money for a local charity that helps homeless children in the city. This is an unforgettable opportunity to not only hone your creative skills, but also make a positive impact on your surroundings.
Social Innovation & Food – Bangkok Old Town
Discover the complexities of food security and poverty in Bangkok and Thailand through this unique program, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn from community partners and nonprofit organizations working to address these issues. You’ll visit organizations such as Scholars of Sustenance, Steps Community, Sati, Na Cafe, and more, and learn from social innovators in action about how to create positive change through food. You’ll also have the chance to design an innovative menu, source the ingredients, learn how to cook the food, and prepare a meal for a fundraising lunch at a hotel. The funds raised from the event will go towards supporting social impact organizations working on food security. This is a rare opportunity to not only learn about these important issues, but also make a difference through your actions and culinary skills.
