Sarah Ghan was born and raised in little ol’ Adelaide, South Australia. She started graduate life as a banking lawyer, and then left Australia’s sunny shores to live and work in China, a dream that was ignited when she first studied Mandarin in Nanjing one summer during university.
From 2003 to 2010, Sarah worked as a business analyst and finance consultant at various global firms in China, including KPMG. However seeing the inequalities developing around the country as a result of rapid growth, Sarah realized the challenges involved in sustainable development, and decided to dedicate more time to her interests in service. She began leading teams of volunteers on development volunteering programs in Kenya and Cambodia for an Australian NGO called World Youth International – amazing, humbling, life-changing experiences – and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Poverty Reduction.
Now in Bangkok, Sarah is excited to be JUMP!’s Program Director for Southeast Asia, where she seeks to inspire and be inspired. She loves being based in Asia, as it gives her plenty of opportunities to satiate her appetite for street food, island time, photography and yoga.
