Titus Kuria is one of the founding leaders of CMETrust – an organization whose mission is to advance education in Kenya by providing secondary school scholarships, with funds raised annually, to students from Mathare Valley Slum, Nairobi; and, to raise awareness in Canada about education and poverty in urban Kenya. He grew up in the Mathare Valley and has a good understanding of what life is like in the slum. Titus, popularly known as Tito, believes that to say life in Mathare is challenging is an understatement. It’s these barriers that he endeavors to alleviate through his contribution and participation in CMETrust and other initiatives so that the upcoming generations could have an easier access to a better future. Titus is a professional Neo-Media Designer and runs an online company, Librated Neo-Media, where he is also the Creative Director. Apart from CMETrust, Titus is also involved in other community development initiatives in the sprawling slums. He is the founder of PaaMoja Initiative, a Community Based Organization that exists to create and connect the youth with emerging empowerment opportunities. He recently joined the JUMP! Foundation as a facilitator – an organization that envisions a world where young people fulfill their true potential as individuals, community leaders, and global citizens. Throughout his community work, Titus has been very fortunate to have been involved in a myriad of organizations and initiatives; he is a fellow of NairoBits School of Digital Design, an alumnus of GIZ, recipient of Bayer Young Environmental Envoy award, a member of Action Beyond Limits network, and a trainer with Sambaza Peace initiative amongst others. Titus enjoys playing and watching football, swimming, wind surfing and spending time with his family.
